ARTIST BIO

I have been drawn to Art for a very long time, and like many artists, I see beauty all around me, in nature and in the ordinary common place objects.

I remember driving from Rutherglen to Corowa and thinking, this sunset is amazing, wouldn\'t it be wonderful to paint.  That thought drove me to \"have a go\" and I started devouring art books and any reference material that I could learn from.  I decided early on that I didn\'t particularly want to learn from just one source. So I have attended many workshops over the years, with artists such as Robert Wade, Terry Jarvis, Barbara Beasley Southgate, Barbara McManus, and I have just recently returned from a workshop in Tasmania with Leoni Duff.  I loved the individuality that many artists display, and their advise can take your paintings to a whole new level. I have also had the pleasure of doing a couple of terms under renowned oil painter David Chen. But I have found no matter what I study I have always loved standing in front of a portrait, quite often they feel more real than a photo and capture not just the image but often convey much more about the person.

I started to exhibit back in the late 90\'s, with being awarded a couple of prizes, I had started to gain a little success. However due to a life event that took me on another tangent, being health and well being I found little time to paint.   I have recently returned to painting, finding I was gradually drawn back to the love of putting paint or pastel on canvas, and once again have had some success in displaying my work, I am delighted to feel the journey of learning will take a lifetime.  As an Artist, art reminds us of the beauty that we are surrounded with and the world can certainly use that.
